Potential Water Issues

Work that was done during an inspection of the water tower today has stirred up iron and sediment in the tower. This may cause residents to have dark or cloudy water.  The water is safe.  It just may be discolored.  If your water is dark or discolored, run your faucet until it clears.  If you are having reservations about using it, boil it for 10 minutes before using.  The Village is NOT under a boil order.  You are not required to boil your water.  We are just suggesting that you may boil it if it makes you feel safer about using the water.  We have no timeframe regarding how long this discoloration may last.  Hopefully the water will clear quickly.  We apologize for this issue and had we known this was a possibility, we would have notified residents prior to the inspection taking place.  Please know that the Village Board and our engineering firm are working to determine the cause of the Village's rust and sediment issues and are looking for the best solution to the problem.
